The NSU TT/TTS are the stuff of legends. With their high-winding OHC transverse mid-rear mounted fours (1100 and 1200 cc) in a 3/4 scale Corvair body, it made for performance that (in relative terms) even put the turbo-charged Monza Spyder to shame.

The NSU Typ 110 was rebranded as the NSU 1200, with claimed engine output now reduced back to 40 kW (54 PS; 54 hp). In this form it continued to be offered in Germany until December 1972. NSU 1200 TTS (1970)

Tony Armes' 1971 NSU 1200 TT is an original UK car in factory tune. It doesn't shout about its go-faster inclination, save a couple of subtle badges and those quad headlamps. Compared to the lowered, rip-snorting TTS hillclimbers, the endearing TT looks almost timid and self-conscious.

In the TT 1200 the engine was bored out to 1177 cc and made 65 hp (DIN). Let's see what this meant: VW 1200 took 37 seconds from start to 100 km/h, a FIAT 850 Sport did this in 23 seconds and the TT 1200 in 13.5 sec. Top speed was 153 km/h. The Prinz name was dropped and the model was called 1200 TT (Typ 67c).
